At nVent, Lacey found a workplace that values both her professional and personal life. She is an environmental health and safety (EH&S) specialist with our Electrical & Fastening Solutions business segment in Centralia, Illinois. She joined our team because of our positive reputation and prioritization of people.
“I followed nVent on LinkedIn, and I was curious about the employee-forward style of business,” she shared. “I originally thought it was too good to be true, but I am coming up on my one-year mark and I have seen for myself, this is a great place to work, and I look forward to growing in my career here.”
Lacey’s background is unique. She proudly served in the United States Army for three years as a military police officer. Now, she balances her role at nVent with her responsibilities as a commander in the Illinois National Guard Engineer Corps.
Initially, she was concerned about how her military duties might be perceived. “I was worried about revealing my current status as a National Guard officer, thinking nVent would not hire me because I have to drill and take time off work to serve,” she admits. However, her concerns were quickly alleviated during the interview process. “I will never forget Katrina Clark, now my manager, telling me I should be proud of my service and never let anyone silence me or stop me from sharing my experience.”
Her dual roles, both in the military and at nVent, share a common thread: safety. “It is my job to keep an entire engineer company safe,” Lacey explains. “Here at nVent, it is my job to help keep our workers safe. I take both roles very seriously, I care about each one of them, soldiers and co-workers alike.” Her dedication to safety ensures that everyone, whether in uniform in the field or donning personal protective equipment (PPE) on the manufacturing floor, makes it home in the same or better shape than when they arrived at work.
Lacey’s conviction in the importance of continuous improvement as a team connects deeply to nVent’s Win Right values – especially Innovation and Adaptability. “These are the foundations for my safety plan for both of my work sites. Always seeking creative ways to be safer and more environmentally sound, while staying within the legal boundaries of State, Federal, and nVent policies.”

The focus on self-care is also astounding, they don’t just talk the talk, they really back up their core beliefs with action,” she notes. For Lacey, balancing the demands of civilian life with the structure of the military required a shift in perspective. Her advice to others that are doing the same or have recently transitioned from the military is: “Take it slow. Civilians don’t expect you to be 15-30 minutes early for everything. Take that time that you would have spent being early and use it to check in with yourself,” she suggests.
Lacey’s story is a testament to the power of finding a collaborative workplace that aligns with one’s personal values and career aspirations.
